Indonesia has become one of the largest producers of waste in the world. One of the causes of this problem is the inadequate waste management in Indonesia and the lack of proper Landfills (TPA) that meet the standards. Article 4 of Law No. 18 of 2008 concerning Waste Management (UU 18/2008) states that the government, both at the central and regional levels, has the obligation to carry out waste management in Indonesia. Besides the government and producers, the community itself should play a significant role in addressing the waste problem in Indonesia. In the learning process of the Environmental and Health Policy course in the Master’s Program in Environmental Health at FKM UNDIP, a field visit to the Banyumas Landfill was conducted on November 21, 2023, involving 7 regular class students and the course lecturer, Dr. Dra. Nur Endah Wahyuningsih, MS. This visit taught a concept of modern waste processing, turning it into economically beneficial products for the community.
